Hello! My given name is Kendra. I came from hundreds of miles away. My story is simple – my owners did not want me. I was not allowed to talk, run around, or give kisses. My mom saw my picture on the rescue site that my owners put me in and called as fast as she could. Some people say it was a coincidence but as said in the Secret movie, coincidences are God’s way of staying anonymous. My owner wanted to talk with the people who wanted to adopt me and when she did, she found out my mom does everything my owner was hoping. Even though my owners did not want me, they did want a good home for me.   

My ‘mom’ (and my veterinarian) say that I am the most loving baby they have ever met! I love giving kisses so much that I sit up and beg to let me love you.  Now I run and play with my sisters, speak any time I want and I sleep in bed with ‘mom’. ‘Mom’ says everyone that meets me wants to take me but we love each other way too much for me to be with anyone but ‘mom’ and ‘dad’.

My name is Helen… my ‘mom’ says that I am extra special! I only have 1 eye and the eye that I have had an ulcer so my vision is not too good, the owners cut my vocal chords – so now I make a clucking sound, they shaved my teeth down to almost nothing, I was locked in a cage in a barn without even a blanket or a name; I was used as a breeding dog. 

I have heard my ‘mom’ tell my story many times and every time tears roll down her cheeks because she says that her heart hurts for what I went thru. The day my ‘mom’ came to get me from my foster, she put me next to her heart and never put me down until we got home 5 hours later….a pretty long drive but I just listened to her heart and knew my ‘mom’ would take wonderful care of me.

One day I had a seizure then another then another….. my ‘mom’ took me to a specialist – a neurologist who diagnosed me with granulomatous meningoencephalomyelitis (GME), the dog form of multiple sclerosis (MS). It was so scary for both of us. I had to stay in the hospital for several days, my ‘mom’ and ‘dad’ came to visit me every day and held me….whispered in my ear how much she loved me. I was finally able to go back home; my mom had to give me chemotherapy injections and she said I was the best baby ever when taking my pills. The doctor told my mom this most likely happened because I had a tick bite years ago when I lived in a barn and never got treatment. 

I do not have beautiful clear brown eyes, I cannot speak, and I have had many medical problems, but my ‘mom’ thinks I am perfect. She says I am her heart baby forever…..

My name is Gabrielle. My mom says I am the ‘sweetest baby’ ever! I love to be loved; I was afraid of men – my mom does not know why – until I met my dad…he loves me soooo much! The place I came from was horrible; the people did drugs and sold my siblings to people in exchange for drugs. I am so grateful for the law enforcement officers finding out what they did. A judge made them give me away and as soon as my mom saw my picture she immediately reached out to the foster family to get me. 

My dad drove my mom hours to pick me up and when my mom saw me she picked me up and held me until we got to my new house…my home. For the first time, I was not scared, I fit right in with all of the other fur babies. 

My mom let me run in the yard and play….something new for me. I had new toys waiting for me when I got to my house and you should see what Santa Claus and the Easter bunny bring for me each year! My mom says it is because I am such a good girl all year long 😊. 

I had to have dental surgery and a bone graft in my jaw; my mom and dad took me to the best dentist and I got everything fixed. I also developed breathing problems because of the environment I came from; my mom and dad love me so much they took me to special doctors to get the medicine and treatment I needed.

Hello my new ‘name’ is Grizzelle. One winter day a couple years ago, I went to see my veterinarian again today to see why I am still having difficulty breathing especially when I try to eat. I make a ‘honking’ sound as I try to get air into my body. The doctor told my owner that I most likely need to have surgery to repair my brachycephalic. I sat there looking at my owner then the doctor not understanding what was happening just wanting so desperately to be able to breathe. 

As the doctor picked me up, I saw my owners leaving…. What was happening? Where are they going? The doctor then started talking on the phone explaining that my owners wanted to euthanize me instead of having surgery and that she (the doctor) convinced the owners to surrender me instead of killing me. I do not think the doctor got the words out of her mouth and my new ‘mom’ was on her way to pick me up – no questions asked. As soon as I saw her, I jumped in her arms – a match made in heaven!

I was quite knotted, and my white fur was gray from cigarette smoke and not being bathed in a year. My hair was covering my eyes because I have not had a hair cut in years. It took ‘mom’ 4 hours to bathe and groom me…. I felt so much better. 

My mom and dad took me to doctor after doctor determined to get me help. Finally, we went to see a doctor who said I needed to have a procedure so she could look in my throat and see what kind of infection I have ... .in a few minutes after inserting the scope, she found a 2-inch pointed stick stuck in my soft palate. After it was removed, I could eat and breathe!!!!

I am so grateful for ‘mom’ saving my life that cold winter day…. but she will tell you I saved her life.

We are the twins Giana and Angelina. We were at the same Humane Society as our fur sister Tootsie. As soon as our mommy saw our pictures she reached out the nice lady that gave her Tootsie. As soon as the lady read the email from my mom, she said someone would bring us to her in just a few days. She was so excited she started crying tears of happiness!! 

Our story is quite simple, a breeder put us in a pet store…we sat there in those small boxes day and night with everyone staring at us, m on the glass but no one taking us home. When we became 12 weeks old the breeder ‘gave up’ on us and put us in the Humane Society ….only to continue breeding and placing more babies in the Humane Society when no one would pay the price he was asking. My mommy wishes she could save them all. 

My check up with the doctor went really well and my bloodwork was normal; I was able to have my surgery (spade) and come back home to mommy and daddy the dame day but my sister Gianna, had really high liver enzymes and had to have more testing; she was not able to have her surgery the same day as me. I will let her to you the rest of her story:.

Yes, my liver enzymes were so high that the doctor had to do a second test which came back really bad too. Mommy and daddy took me to a specialist far away. She was really nice and so smart…daddy didn’t understand all the words she was saying  😊. I had to have more bloodwork done and an ultrasound of my liver. A few days later, the doctor called my mommy and said I needed to have a liver biopsy. The very nice surgeon called mom and explained what I needed to have done; the surgery went well and just as my mom manifested, nothing horrible was found during the surgery. I am doing really well, I just have to have bloodwork drawn every so many months to make sure everything stays ok. 

Angelina and I had a visit from a dog trainer mommy hired to help us with our confidence. She told mommy that since we were in a dog store and then a Humane Society for all of our lives, we were scared of a lot. The trainer told mommy what she needed to do to help us. Now, we walk on a lead with our sisters, go up and down stairs and some times we are naughty and chase our kitty brothers and sisters.

DescMy name is Tootsie….and I have to say my name fits me perfectly! When I was just a baby, only a few weeks old, I was dropped off at a Humane Society. You see I had a little spot on my eye and the people who dropped me off said that I had a defect, and no one would want me. I am very energetic and love to have fun. I sometimes get into things and do things that I should not….but it is soooo much fun. 

Hundreds of applications arrived for me but when the Humane Society called the veterinarian’s office about my ‘new mom to be’, they told the Society that they wish they could be my fur baby because she would get so much love and be wonderfully cared for. 

When the Humane Society called my mom, she started crying tears of joy. She called my dad at work and told him the wonderful news. Then she bought toys, blankets, beds, and a stroller. Her and my ‘dad’ drove hours just to pick me up. I played and licked my ‘mom’s’ face the whole way home. I knew this was my forever home and I am part of a new family! I still take ‘mom’s’ things but she just laughs.
